Assam: Conversations Beyond the Classroom

Among all the workshop sessions, this circle on the grass remains one of my most cherished memories. Most of our sessions focused on science, mathematics, culture, maps, and fun icebreaker activities. However, this particular session was different. Instead of following the planned curriculum, we spent time talking openly with the students about their dreams, challenges, hopes, and life experiences. We sat together under the open sky, surrounded by nature. What started as a simple conversation soon became a meaningful exchange of thoughts and stories. During the session, I shared the poem "Tu Zinda Hai," and the students listened with great interest and attention. There were no classroom walls, no benches, and no formal teaching—just genuine conversations and human connection. The students spoke freely, shared their ideas, laughed together, and reflected on different aspects of life. In those moments, the distance between teacher and student seemed to disappear. This photograph reminds me that education is not only about lessons and activities. Sometimes, the most valuable learning happens through conversations, shared experiences, and inspiring one another.
